I have recently purchaced a TC Encore with a 7mm rem mag barrel. im really up in the air about what scope i wont to put on it. Ive always been a Leupold man, and have always had good luck with their product. My a bolt 243 wssm has a vari x 4.5x14x50AO on it. I hear the Bushnell elites are the real deal, and also have looked into the Ziess conquest, but my question is i know the Leupolds may not have the best lighttransmission compared to others but their dang tough scopes that hold a zero and are are backed up for life. Are the bushnells and Ziess conquest as well built. Also are their any others i should look into(e.g. Pentax, Burris, ect) I wonna get out for around 500$$$ and i pefer 50mm

Thanks

....................The Elite 4200`s are just as rough & tough as the Leupys are! The 4200`s have been  recoil tested to 10,000 rounds on a 375 H&H, so I don`t think there will be a problem with any recoil issues or holding zero!. The Rainguard feature on the 4200`s does what it says, so you`ll never lose a shot in any weather condition due to any lens distortions. In the brightness category the 4200 (own one), is a fractions brighter to my eyes than the VX3`s (own one also).............................Compared to the 4200, the Zeiss Conquests are fractionally brighter, but that`s it. The Zeiss will have better eye relief at 4" vs 3.3" for the 4200`s. If you are a habitual stock crawler, getting too close, you may get scope whacked. But, my 4200 sometimes sits on a .375 Ruger and I have had no issues with scope whacking!!.................Not familiar with Pentax. Burris`are a good scope as well, but you cannot go wrong with either the Zeiss, Leupy or the 4200! Its really a matter of preference!...........For real harsh weather conditions, I like the 4200`s Rainguard for better assurance!

thats for the info.. i really have leaned toward that 2.5x10x50 elite 4200. im gonna think about it. the local gunshop has a gently used ziess 50mm conquest for 429$$ very attractive price. and of course the vx3 gonna be north of 500 $$ so wil the elite but its prob my best bang for the buck. And one more question. I read that their are issues with nikon Monarchs loosing seal and fogging. I HAVE OWNED nikon scopes and was moderately satisified with their performance for the money. ANY TRUTH to this fogging problem??

I am not aware of any consistent fogging problems with Nikons.
