Hello all!  New here and I recently acquired the above rifle with the idea that eventually I will have it completely converted into a long range F class type rifle.  But first I want to use it as is as just a hunting rifle.  With my long range objective in mind, I'd like to put a mil dot scope on it and I was wondering if the Nikon Monarch 4-16x42 SF model would be a good choice for this particular rifle.  The eye relief seems generous at 4.0 -3.7 inches.  I should note that with my vision I will have to adjust the eyepiece out quite a bit to get a clear sight picture.  Oh one last item - I only have good vision in my right eye and I'm right handed/right eye dominate, so that is why I want to be sure I get a scope with good eye relief and mount it correctly so as to somewhat mitigate hitting myself in the face with the scope under recoil in off angle shots, which I would most likely try and avoid.

So, your thoughts?  Other scopes you would consider?  The rifle is used and was shipped with Leupold low mount 1 inch rings, so I'd like to be able to use those if possible.  It had a Leupold VXIII 3.5-10x40 scope on it originally.

Thanks!!

Excellent write up - thank you!  I think I'm going to go with the Nikon.  I dream of some super eagle eye scope in the future as I convert the rifle to an F class shooter and if that day ever comes I, like you, can transfer the scope to one of my AR-15's.  Sounds like a win win to me!  Thanks again!
