I need a scope for a 375 H&H Magnum I recently picked up. Mostly I am looking at lower power variables but would consider a fixed power scope. I want the scope to go down to 2x or less magnification on the low side, but 2.5x would be considered. I really do not see a need for any more than 6X on this rifle but I will consider a variable with more than 6x as long as it fits into the minimum magnification range I specified. Either 30mm or 1" main tubes are fine, and the scope must have an etched reticule.

On my short list as of now are the following scopes.

Zeiss Conquest 1.8-5x38
Zeiss Conquest 2.5-8x34
Kahles Heila CL 2-7x36
Meopta Artemis 1.5-6x42
Burris Signature Safari 1.75-5x32

Also I am considering the Zeiss Conquest 4x32. I generally like fixed power scopes but would like the ability to have less magnification of this rifle. However a fixed 4 power is not completely out of the question.

Zeiss Conquest 4x32 would definately be on the top of my list of the ones you mentioned.  The heavy recoil on a variable power tends to bother me and thats when I always use a fixed.

Kahles 2-7 or if you can find a 1.5-6 Helia C.  Those would be my choices...

I have the 1.75-6x32 Leupold on mine.  I have complete respect for leupold when it comes to durability.

Has Kahles overcome their troubles with warranty issues here in the US? That would be the only thing I'd think about.  All the scopes mentioned would probably serve you well.

I had a 1 3/4 x 5 Vari X III on mine and just put a 2x7 VX II on it recently.  Outside of a short mounting distance either one seems to work just fine.  I do have a 3x9 Conquest that is tempting to try out on it but I'm trying to stop playing musical scopes for the time being.  I also agree with the statement about trusting Leupold.  I've had very few problems with them and their customer service is top notch.
