Buying a prohunter and looking to buy a scope for it.  Furtherest shots would be 150 yards but most would be 50-80.  Looking for something along the line of 1.5x6 with 42 objective.  Not sure what recommended eye relief is for a muzzleloader as I have never shot one.  Want good glass (not $300 and not $1000+)  What 3 or so would you recommend I look at?

I am not a muzzleloader guy, but I've heard that Nikon Omega is designed for muzzleloaders and works very well.

If  you want something a bit more upmarket, Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 or 1.5-5x38 should work well.

Conquest's would be an excellent choice as would a Bushnell Elite 4200 1.5-6x36 w/FireFly reticle. This is an excellent low light reticle and the optics are as good as the Conquest.

Might also want to check out:

Monarch Gold - 1.5-6x42, German #4 reticle.  Might be a better fit with your mag specs.

I am not sure 3.1" of eye relief is enough on the elite.  Would the ziess conquest 1.8x5.5x38 or the monarch 1.5x6x42 be clearer and have better light transmission?

All three would be in the same general ballpark, optics-wise.  Conquest is perhaps a little better than Elite 4200, and Elite 4200 is a little better than Monarch Gold.  I think you'd be very happy with any one of these three.

Thanks for the replies.  I will hopefully get the gun/scope in the next couple of months.

I have discovered it is illegal in WI to use a magnifying scope during our muzzleloader season.  Which leaves open sights or red dot.  What would you recommend for a red dot scope?

Or you can just get a brand new Sightron S1 1x20 scope.  I'd look sreal hard at an Eotech of some sort also.
