Just recieved a Marlin 336 chambered in 35 Remington this Christmas and it currently has a 3-9x50 Simmons on it.......a little too much I think and I don't care for the clarity. Am researching the options and am interested in the Scout mount and scope system but I have opportunities in both brush and up to around 150 yards as well. I hunt Alabama. Low light is common so I need something that will pick up light as well as can be expected. What do you think of the scout mount system and what are good scopes for this or should I go more traditional? Will the Scout mount be good in longer range shots as well as close in? (no more than 150 yards) |

Here's a picture of my 336 with a Leupold 2.5x28 Scout scope mounted with Leupold quick release rings on an XS Sight Systems no drill and tap scout mount and XS back up ghost ring sights. It works very well in low light and 150 yards has not been a problem for this combination. The XS system combined with Leupold QRW rings are a very solid combo.
If you decide to go conventional here is a list to consider.
Bushnell Trophy 1.75-4x32.....$99.95 Weaver Classic V-3 1-3x20....$149.95 Nikon Monarch 1.5-4.5x20.....$239.99 Leupold VX-II 1-4x20.....$259.95 |
