I believe Santa Claus will be bringing a Marlin 1894C in .357 magnum to our house this year- I believe this because I just bought it yesterday!  It is a compact little rifle that should be great fun around the farm shooting .38 specials and possibly may take a few deer one day with the right .357 magnum loads.

Ordinarily, I would not put a scope on this rifle as all shots will be less than 80 yards or so- but somehow I have caught the dreaded 'far-sightedness' disease that many of us shooters get over 40 years of age.  The front sight is (frustratingly) a little blurry... Any ideas on what scope to put on it?  I really want something small as the rifle only has an 18" barrel.

All input is greatly appreciated,
Sal

If it were me I'd be looking at one of the 20mm fixed or variable scopes.  I don't know what your wanting to spend but here are a few(in no particular order of favorites).

There are others in the tactical class of scopes which can cost a good bit more.

All the above suggestions are good.
I'll add I like compact 4X scopes for all around use and Leupold makes a 4x33 that is very nice. They have also brought back the 3x20 and that looks like a very nice scope if you want a straight tube.
