What do you recommend for a scope to use in an Appleseed event?

Will be going on a 10/22.

Thanks!

The program is actually designed for open sites, the distances are not far.

A 4X Weaver, Leupold or similar is nice on a 10/22. That is what I use for general shooting on one of my Rugers.

Thanks!

Is there any issue using non-adjustable parallax scopes at 25 yds?

Was thinking of this scope:

This has a fixed parallax at 100 yds.  Will it work at 25yds?

I use 100 yd. parallax set scopes on rimfires and airguns all the time at short ranges under 25 yds. It is no problem as long as the power is low like 4X.
Monarchs are nice scopes. I have two of them in 2-7 and 3-9. The 2-7 was on a 10/22 for a short time and also worked great. There were no parallax problems when shooting at small game under 25 yds.

Did a little more reading.  For hunting parallax is not an issue but what about target shooting?

The Appleseed is shot at 25 yds.  I read that at shorter distances it does become an issue?  Is that correct?

What would be the best lower magnification scope with AO?

Looking for 1-4 or 2-7.

Thanks!

The lower powered scopes generally don't have it because it is not needed. If you are still concerned about parallax, Weaver and Leupold make fine rimfire scopes. They are parallax set at 60 yds. for the Leo and 50 for the Weaver. There are others that I have no experience with that are also good like Sightron.
If you want an AO you'll need to move up to 3-9 in various brands like Leupold and Weaver. I don't think AO will matter for the Appleseed, though.

Adjustable iron sights are preferred but my eyes aren't what they used to be so I used a Weaver 3-9x32 AO the last time I attended an appleseed.

Thanks guys.  My eyes are getting tired so I am looking to use the scope.  Looks like the only options with AO are the Weaver, Leupold, and Sightron.  Looking to go with lowest magnification possible with AO looks like 3-9 is it.
