Hey everybody this is my first post. I just bought a new TIKKA t3 Varmint. I am looking at putting together a lasting varmint rig.

I have see the many discussions about scopes on a budget. So i do ask your wisdom of what would be a nice optic for this gun? I have a small 40 acre ranch with mountain lions pigs and coyotes. Some prairie dogs.
Burris fulfilled II
NIkon MOnarch
Etc etc

As far a power goes, i know i will be making 100 + yard shots.
Is 6.5-20x44 going to limit me to only long range shooting?

I am looking to use this rig on the local coyote population also?
I have bought cheap scopes before and want to make a great decision on this one i am trying to stay under 400 bucks.
Thanks in advance for the wisdom!

Look at the 4x16 4200 elite and monarch. I think you will find the 4x lower end good for closer range shots while at 16x they will be good for load work and longer range shots. I use the 4x16 4200 elite on a 22-250 dedicated chuck and coyote rifle and it tracks and hold POI well with excellent optics.

I agree with Focus.  6.5x at the low end is a wee bit  too much power for many situations and 16x at the top end will handle just about anything within your 40 acres, as long as you stand about in the middle...Smoking
The Elite and Monarchs are about as good as you can get within your budget.
