As the title implies, I purchased a Stevens 200 in .308 recently, and now I'm pondering which scope to mount on it.  After perusing this forum I've decided to forgo the cheap scope route (i.e. a low end Tasco I was considering before) and spend a tad bit more.  Trouble is I really don't have a whole lot of money to spend on this setup (college student,) hence the Stevens 200.  I wanted to keep as close to the $200 mark as possible while still getting a decent scope, worth the money invested into it.  So, I think Iíve narrowed it down to either a Burris Fullfield II 3-9 X 40 or a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9 X40.  Any input on these scopes?  Recommend any other scopes?

The rifles intended use is mainly to blast away targets at a range; although I would eventually like to go hunting (after I have become more competent with a rifle, to be sure.)  So I guess what I am saying is: although I probably will not be able to go on a hunt for quite some time, I would just assume purchase a hunting-worthy scope now that wonít fail me later on.

Oh, one last thing.  Where would I find mounts for these scopes to fit my rifle?

Thanks for your time, sirs.  It is much appreciated.

P.S.  Great forum!  Very useful to a newcomer like myself.

Welcome to The OT, Shane.

I like the BM and some others here like the FFII.

Both are good to go, good performers.

Your choice of reticles may sway you on one brand or the other.

My personal preference would be the Burris FFII.  I have been using one for a while and LOVE it!  The price range that you are looking in, under $200, I don't think you will find a better scope (even if you are willing to pay a little more).  I have a friend who was looking at the BM scope.  I told him to look at the FFII.  Now he has the FFII on every gun he owns and wouldn't buy anything else.  Hope this helps and good luck on your new scope!

Give SWFA a chance to get your business.  They hooked my up we a great pair of binoculars

I'd go with a FFII as well (I know cheaptrick is suprised to hear that).

As for mounts, I suggest you give SWFA a call and they'll set you up with a mount, rings, etc that will fit your rifle (I suspect that Stevens takes the same mounts as other Savage boltguns, but it is best to call SWFA and check).

Another vote for the FFII.
