Hi guys. I've been given a nice little CVA scout 2 carbine in a 35 Remington that I'd like to top with a scope and work up loads for over the next year. Here's my criteria:

Shooting will be in dense pines at 100 yards or less.

Low light ability is the most important aspect.

I'd like to stay at $300 or below.

The rings included with the rifle fit a 44mm or smaller objective.

I've thought about a fixed power scope, but I've never owned one. A 3-9 would be fine also.

Recommendations?

For the ranges you state, you probably can't get this quality glass from anything else out there for that price.

+100 ^. That is one fine scope (but it is also a tad heavy steel tube). I do think a fixed power would be perfect though.

Any 2-7 is a great choice. I especially like the Bushnell Elite 2-7. My son has one on his 7-08 and it a great scope.
