Is it a factory weight rifle or has it been lightened up in someway?  Trying to get an idea on the recoil level.

You could send it back to Bushnell and see if you could somehow swap it for a 4200 (even if you have to pay a few extra bucks) which has a higher recoil rating.  I'm guessing that you just got a lemon, every company makes a dud from time to time.

First thing I would do is follow swtucker's advice and see if Bushnell will make you a deal on a 4200.  If that doesn't work out what price range are you wanting to stay in?  Mounts and rings you've got should be fine unless they're worn.

First, see if Bushnell can exchange the 3200 for the 4200 along with some dollars from you to cover the difference. I wouldn`t re-mount a 3200.

If not and there is a big hassle, I`d go the 2.5-8x36 VX111. That scope will more than take the recoil of the 8mm mag.

I have Pentax Lightseeker II with the Perm-align feature.  Burris calls it Posi-Lock.  It has withstood probably 100 rounds with no ill affects at all.   The VX III 2.5x8x36 would be a good choice but if your rifle is a Remington it will be almost impsssoble to mount it due to the shortness of the scope's tube and the length of Remington's Long Magnum action.  That's one of primary reasons I went with the Pentax, it had the longer tube.

You could always buy a one piece picatinny style base and have all the mounting options you need.

The 3200 was a lemon.I shot hundreds of rounds of 35 Whelen with my 3200 and have no problems to report.

the 35 whelen is hardly in the same category as the 8mm mag, thats a huge case with a lot of powder and it really packs some punch. the .35whelen is a pussy cat compared to the 8mm mag. the 3200 is however tested to 1000 simulated rounds of .375H&H mag, so its hard to say.

I don't know about Bushnell's simulated rounds of a 375 h&h, i have a 204 with a 4200 that i put in the overhead rack in my Dodge pickup and it doesn't hold zero too well!! I haven't figured out who has the problem Bushnell or Dodge !!!!
I do know the rifles with leupolds hold zero being bounced around!

I have a bushnell elite 3200 on a remington 700 in 358 norma mag and never had any problems,so maybe I did get a lemon but don't want to chance it again and besides it really kicks like hell and after about the fourth shot you feel like you should be able to clap with your shoulder blades. I would like to stay under 500.00

You might try a Burris Sig. Select with Posi Lok.   And I think the tube on a VX-III 3.5x10x40 is long enough.  Also Zeiss Conquest 3x9x40 should be good choice too.
