I'm looking for a long eye relief scope for a hard-kicking .50 Beowulf AR-15.

My requirements:

- 4x (more or less)

- at least 6" of eye relief

- Rugged (able to take the recoil as well as being knocked around in the field)

- Not required, but would like to have an illuminated reticle (I'd like to be able to get the BAC effect with both eyes open)

What I'd really like is a long eye relief ACOG, but as far as I know, there is no such thing :)

I could probably make do with less eye relief, but I regularly smack my glasses with an ACOG when shooting fast with a .223, and it definately hurts my marksmanship when I'm anticipating being smacked by the scope. I want there to be ZERO chance of this happening with the Beowulf during rapid fire.

You will be limited in choices as far as 6" of eye relief.

Aimpoint makes scopes that have unlimited eye relief. They're available in an illuminated reticle with 2x magnification, with variable illumination settings depending on your situation.

CHECK THEM OUT HERE

The Leupold CQT wouldn't be a bad choice. Its eye relief is around 2.8 - 2.0. Features include: Illumination, variable 1-3x, circle dot reticle, and a very rugged design. Also has the variable illumination setting.

Leupold CQT....$699.95

You wouldn't be able to use the CQT with both eyes, but you could with the Aimpoint

If you wanna take a different route all together you should look at the Super Sniper Scopes. We have a bunch of people that mount these scopes on your same type setup, and are blown away by their performance. This scope goes against all your requirements but are worth taking a look at. May not be the choice if you plan on doing rapid shooting.

I wasn't aware of the magnified aimpoints, I'll check those out.

I'm planning on a Super Sniper for my 6.5 Grendel in a few months :)

If I give up on an illuminated reticle, a scout scope might serve me well on the Beowulf.....

That scout scope wouldn't be a bad choice. Leupold makes some with eye relief around 9". With a fixed power of 2.5-28.

Does your Beowulf have a flattop and a rail on your hand. You would need something like this to mount a scout scope with all that eye relief.

I've been thinking of using that exact handguard from YHM, with an extended rail on top to lock them together with no possibility of them moving (the YHM does not have any positive indexing, and while the one I have on another rifle seems rock solid, I suspect that a vertical grip could, maybe, if the stars line up, apply enough torque to make it rotate.
