Hi Gents,
Can I get some opinions on your recommendations for the .300 win Mag I have. It is a Blaser R8 and I will be using it out west on Elk. Shot distances would be representative of what you would expect to see in Northern New Mexico. I will probably feel comfortable shooting out to about 400 yds and will be practicing out to 300 yds on a regular basis.  Right now I'm planning on going with the Z6i SR 2-12X50mm. I think this scope represents a good balance of optical performance, magnification, and reasonable weight.  However, I am also considering a lower weight option of the swaro Z3 4-12x50 as it weighs a good 1/4lb less than the Z6. Please provide your input. I am completely open to suggestions and by no means limiting myself to swarovski Only.

Thanks,

Josh

If you can swing the Z6, price wise, that would be my choice. Weight is a funny thing, especially when it gives you much more capability. I hunt elk in northern AZ,and I do so with a 15lbs rifle. Needless  to say I don't walk much. But that is also because I have learned that walking is not near as effective as glassing. Good glass saves your legs, not 4 ounces.
If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

I too would go for the Z6 i. Additionally, the upper class Zeiss scopes (like the 2-10 X 50 Victory Diavari illum) are wonderful and they have the LotuTec hydrophobic coating... which the Swaro does not have.

Z6 is an amazing scope.  The 2-12 is a great range for the 300 WM as well.  I would probably go with the 2.5-15x44 for my 300 if it was me.
