I have seen some very nice Burris Black Diamond scopes in this price range,

I feel that will be a good set-up for your budget.

Super Sniper 10x42M side focus model is $399 or a fixed 4x or 6x which are bright scopes and better later in the evening or you can use a vairable and turn the power ring down as it gets dark.

If reticle selection and elevation for long distance is not important,

the 4200 has slightly better glass than the Black Diamond and is

also a fine choice. The Signature Select by burris is a fine scope as

well in this similar price range, I like the 4-16x44 with the Ballistic-

Mil Dot.

You may also want to look at IOR and Meopta Meostar they are both great scopes

for the money.

Funny....I just received a 4200 4-16x44 in the mail today.  Been playing with it to see how low light performance is.  Low light performance is great! I too have a 25-06 and am deciding whither to put this scope on it or put the 4200 4-16 on a 22-250 and take the Burris signature select off of it and put it on the 25-06.  I will probably do the latter.  My coyote gun is a Tikka 22-250 with a 3-9 Zeiss conquest and it is absolutely awesome.  However the glass in the 4200 is pretty awesome too.  If I did not already have the Burris 3-12 SS I would look at the 4200 2.5-10 for the 25-06 and never look back.  It gives wide angle field of view and decent magnification along with superb glass.  What more do you want.  I am a big 22-250 and 25-06 fan and feel that the 2.5-10 is pretty ideal for the 25-06.

hope this helps.....
