Hi all.  I'm currently evaluating 3 scopes and I would like to have some input based on personal experiences.  This scope will  go on a 6mm Remington so recoil will not be a factor.  I'm looking at the Burris Signature Select 1.5-6x40, the Bushell Elite 4200 1.5-6x36 and the Leupold VXIII 2.5-8x36.  I'll be shooting varmints and deer.  I just bought a Burris Signature Select 1.5-6x40 and love it.  I really like the 40mm objective and am primarily interested in knowing what difference that extra 4mm makes.  Thanks for your input.

Do you mean you have the scopes in hand when you say "evaluating"??

I own the Burris but don't own the others.

4mm means a bigger scope.  There won't be a huge or probably any noticeable difference in anything.  All are good scopes.  I would look at the Burris and the 4200 and probably let price decide.

As usual, I am with ranburr on this one. Both Burris and the Elite would be excellent choices. I would have to guess that you are not sniping for varmints.

Signature Select and Elite 4200 are comparable.  Extra 6mm of the objective bell at these magnifications will not make any discernible difference.  I'd take either one of these over a Leupold VX-3.

Between SIgnature Select and Elite 4200, I'd probably go with Burris due to it being a bit smaller and lighter and having a larger field of view than the Bushnell.  Also, Elite 4200 has 1/4" clicks and Burris has 1/2" clicks which I prefer on a scope of this type.

As far as illumination goes, Elite 4200 has Firefly while Burris has LRS.  This comes down to what you like more.

ELite 4200 has Rainguard which is an advatage if you expect to be in foul weather.

I've had all three and prefer the Leupold, although I do like the Taper Plex reticle on the Burris.  The Bushnell is nice to look through, but I didn't like anything else about it.  Also, I've found anything less than 2.5X to be useless.  Might as well have a little more on the high end.  It's useful for sighting in, etc.
