I bought a nikon coyote 4.5-14 with the BDC reticle.  I'm finding that the eye relief seems pretty touchy, which is strange because I own 2 other 4.5-14 scopes which don't seem as touchy.  Am I imagining this, or is the Nikon scope different?
I'll shoot this scope a bit more, but am already considering a different scope, but I want a 4.5-14 x40 or 50, and prefer camo, but might consider sending it to somone to camo.  I'm absolutely in love with an older weaver tactical 4.5-14 X44, and would buy one tomorrow if they were still making them.
Suggestions anyone?

I have a couple of the Bushnell 4200 series scopes that I really like.  I also have a Leupold VX3 that I like.  The scope I would prefer to buy if I were to buy one today would be the Trijicon 5-20x50 with green mildot reticle however they only have 50 moa of internal adjustment or I would already have one.   The Zeiss conquest line is hard to beat.  The Sightron SIII scopes are good glass reasonable price for what you get.  IOR / Valdada has some of the nicest glass, you might consider that also. There are a lot of good choices but price range limits most of us.

I have the same Nikon Buckmaster on a .243. The scope should give you plenty of eye relief at 3.6 inches. Is it on a new rifle? Sometimes our cheek placement is the key issue and you'll need a little more butt stock or comb to feel comfortable. Of course like you said shooting a bit more may help you feel more comfortable with with the scope and rifle.
