I have a Ruger Deerfield .44 mag rifle.

I would like to put a very compact scope or red dot type sight on this gun.

It needs to have magnification as I cant see that great. Most of my shooting is under 100 yards.

Of all the guns I own, this gun is by far my favorite.

Your opinions are genuinely appreciated.

There are a few low magnification scopes out there for not too much money.  You did not mention what price range you are looking for, but here a couple of scope around ~$150-$170:

Weaver V3 1-3x20

Burris Fullfield II 1.75-5x20

There is a Nikon Monarch 1.5-4.5x20 that can be found for a little over $200.

Then there is a number of these scopes in the $300-$600 range.

There are also some more expensive choices, but, to be honest, you do not need anything beyond the first two.  If you expect to be shooting in low light, Burris is available with a heavy #4 reticle.
