I picked up and early Japanese made Bushnell Banner 4x32 off eBay. Found that the threads holding the object lens housing and the tube are stripped. Any ideas on how to repair so that the scope will still function correctly. I plan to use it on a 22lr gun so it won't be subjected to a lot of recoil. The scope is also stamped with BL. I understand that some early Bushnell scopes were made by Bausch and Lomb. Could mine be one of those. The optics look extremely sharp and bright. I also need a turret cap if anyone happens to have one laying around LOL:) Thanks. |

It is a bad sign all around but if you want to try to get some use out of it go to Lowe's and get some red lock-tite and see if that will keep it together. If that doesn't hold scuff both sets of remaining threads with some 120 grit sand paper (lightly) and mix a dab of JB weld and smear alittle on the tube and thread it to where you want it. If that doesn't hold drill a 1/8 hole in it and use a pop rivet. It is likely gonna fog up regardless. Or you could send it to Bushnell as is and who knows, they may send you a referb. Even if it is a Bausch and Lomb ( likely not) I hope you don't have much in it. Keep an eye open at some yard sales, You might get lucky and find something similar and have enough to make one good one out of the two. Good Luck! Welcome to the OT! |

Thanks, I'll try the JB weld only paid $9.95. But anything is too much for a busted scope. Cost me a much to ship back as I paid for it.
