Wanting input from everyone on what to look at getting for a 300 win mag.  It will be shot no less than around 400yds.  I may try to get into competitive mode with it eventially but not at first.  I looked at this scope and have chewed back and forth, how would it be for that kinda shooting.

11466 Nikon 6-24x50 Monarch 8427, Matte finish, fine crosshair reticle, 1" tube, side focus, fast focus eye piece, includes additional target knobs, like new condition $827.00 $479.95

I am also looking at the wonderful SS20x as well and a few Bushnell Elites.    I have a 40%off coupon to use with Bushnell but I dont' want that to play a role in recomendations because I and always use that for something else like a spotter or rangefinder. Don't limit to these and let me know what you think.  I haven't heard a lot of chatter on the nikon but didnt know if you guys have seen them used for longer range shooting and how they hold zero and track.  I appreciate the advise and effort in helping me decide whats the best way to go.  Price isn't that huge of a deal but I dont' want to spend $1000 right now unless its necessary.

I'd utilize the 40% percent coupon on a 4200 or 6500 in what ever power suits you.

I hope the Monarch is a good scope, I ordered the exact one as well but haven't taken possession yet so can't help you.

The Monarch scopes are pretty good but they get a litle hazy around 18-20x all the way to 24x.

The below scope would certainly be an option for me.  With your 40% off that puts it at $435.00.  Very hard to beat.  Has about 80MOA adjustment and I would put a 20MOA base on it.  Should make a very nice long range shooter.  I've toyed with this scope some at one of the local gunshops and I really like it.  The glass is good and I found it quite clear even at the highest power.  There was some dimming, but that is to be expected.  Since I have not had a chance to use my particular torture methods on this scope, I cannot speak to its durability on a 300WM, but every 4200 I've had experience with has held up well on up to that caliber.
Just something to keep in mind.

The Elite 6500 sound like a good deal with that coupon.  The only way to really tell is look at them side-by-side if possible.  One plus with the Nikon is the locking side focus, I'm not sure if anyone else does that.

As far as the internal adjustments, it may noy be a issue for you application, depending on things like off centered scope base screws, and so on.  The Burris Signature scope rings with the off-set inserts are a big plus in these situations.  As far as you load you can check out JBM ballistics.  Its an online ballistic calculator that works pretty good.

The amount of internal adjustment really comes into play once you get past 600 yds.  Most scopes will get you to 600 but not much further a few mostly ones with 30mm tubes will get you further. These are a very good value on exceptional scopes:
11546 Leupold 4.5-14x50 Mark 4 LR/T 60005, Matte finish, tactical millimg reticle, 30mm tube, side focus, M1 target knobs, very light ring marks like new condition
100 moa of adjustment
$899.95
11544 Nightforce 3.5-15X50 NXS NXS1550NPR2, Matte finish, NP-R2 reticle, 30mm tube, 1/4moa target knobs, side focus, ring marks
110 MOA elevation
80MOA windage
$1,199.95
I do like the Bushnell 4200 4-16x40 for an all around hunting scope because 4x is low enough on the low end for most things and 16x on the high end allows you to evaluate the deer's rack once you get past that scope they seem to start getting rather expensive and this years is more than last years but the changes from 1/8 to 1/4 moa clicks and from front focus to side focus are both really nice, the down side is a total of 50 moa of internal adjustment so 25 moa up ( working off a 100 yd zero with 190 SMK 300 WM 25.9moa is 950 yds) . I think the question becomes how do you intend to use the rifle is it a long range hunting rig or a long range target rig or a stalking gun because each makes a difference in what you should choose. I particularly like the Trijicon Accupoint illuminated reticle scopes.

I wouldnt want to loose from 4x to 5x on the low end unless I was gaining something on the high end that made it worth it like a 5-20.  Id go 4-14 before Id go 5-15.

What about a 10x HD Super Sniper? Cool

Anyone else have any experience with this particular 3200?  Is it still decently clear at 15x?

Does anyone know the MOA adjustment in this? 80MOA like the 3200 10x40?

Wanting to see if this and a 20MOA is enought to reach 1000.

Have you given any consideration to this scope  http://swfa.com:80/Vortex-65-20x50-Viper-30mm-Rifle-Scope-P13287.aspx
or its 44mm Obj. sibling. Advertised as 68MOA of Adj.. I don't know if that would be enough with
a 20 MOA base but it certainly is a nice price.
