I'm looking to downgrade the scope on my AR-15 flattop from an ACOG TA31F to something in the 300-400 dollar range in order to raise funds for another project.  (ACOG is listed on ebay if anyone is interested).  Right now I'm looking at the IOR 4x24 tactical model.  Does anyone have any experience with this scope?  How much of a step down is the optical quality as compared to an ACOG?  Any other scope model recommendations in this price range?  My preferences lean towards getting a higher quality fixed power rather than a lesser quality variable.  I usually shoot at 200 yards, occasionaly out to 400.

You must not be familiar with IOR glass which is extremely high quality what makes the ACOG more expensive is that it is tritium and fiber optic lit. I take it that you are not being shot at so the set up is not a gunfight set up and in that case why not put a 299. Super Sniper 10x42 on it.

You are right, I'm not familiar with IOR, other than the positive things I have read about them.

I think the Super Sniper is a bigger scope than what I am looking for.  One thing that caught my eye about the IOR 4x24 is it's short length.  It looks small enough to mount on an AR15 flat top by just using some extra high rings (no need for some kind of an extension mount).  Does anyone know if this is in fact the case, or will I have eye relief problems from the scope being too far back?

I have similar interests in this price point and possibly a low power IOR or similar optic.
