I read the message posted by Chris about Schmidt & Bender. I know the dollar is taking a beating against European currencies. As for the price inceases I don't like them, but I understand what is going on.
I do not understand the falling out between Premier Reticle and Schmidt & Bender. I heard a rumor that Premier was not assembling the M8541 correctly. This was causing problems for Marines in the field.
Something with the Elevation mechanism.
Is Schmidt & Bender the vendor for the M8541? Or is some one else going to provide scopes? Any good "intel" would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes the dollar is taking a beating. A quick look at exchange rates shows the Euro at $1.54 per million. Small timers like me then have to add a nickel to that price, and then the bank still charges an extra $ 40.00 service fee. Add to that a customs charge of 14.9% + $150.00 brokerage fee and a disbursement fee of $35 - $135 , depending on amount of goods. And when all is said and done there, you still have to figure in shipping charges to get your new tacticool optical accessory here to the U.S. . I have been holding prices down as long as I can , but see an increase coming soon. Expect to see all European based products on the rise.

the way I get it=is premier will be releasing their own in house scope later this year which will embody their reticles and will probably become the replacement (passing all the tests of course etc etc.)

uso wasn't really with them-- premier will get the contract unless they blow it-- the price increase for s&b is probably an attempt to recoup some of the loss.

the 8541 scope turrets were replaced due to marines in the field wanting to replace the window turrets with a click thump turret. we could not make appropriate adj at night with the window and wanted to know when we were at a mil. so they started changing them and the turrets are sticking really bad when you try to go past a mill it sticks and jumps .2 or.3 mils. this is the problem. but as far as that i have used 8541 on m107 m40 and mkll and transfered one on to our xm3 and it has been outstanding. i have no problem with night force optics just am really familiar with the 8541.
and it is also nice because i dont have to buy them to use them. lol
