Hey guys,

FNG here and new to scopes.

Just bought a Scar 17s and am looking for something to shoot out to say 500 yards max. Mostly to 200 yards or less. I have shot it with an Aimpoint and a Millet DMS and am looking for something with a little more power and something that is appropriate to the rifle. Budget is up to $500.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the OT Forum!
The Bushnell is excellent. The only thing about that model shown is the fine multi-x reticle, which might be a little slow to pick up in fast shooting situations, but would be great for target work. It's a great scope- the Elite 6500s are highly regarded.
The Burris is known to be a tough scope, but with lesser glass/controls, etc.

Since you mentioned 3-9 power range, the previously mentioned SS 3-9 would be just about ideal mounted on a military type rifle like that Scar.
You might also check out the Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 for $400 and the Conquest w/4A reticle for $500.

After you've done some shooting, many of us here would appreciate a test report on that Scar.

Thanks for the advice and the welcome guys!

I tend to over analyze things, so I appreciate all of your wisdom.

What about this one???

http://www.samplelist.com/Burris-15-6x40-Xtreme-Tactical-XTR-DEMO-C-P2278.aspx

Also, why is the SS considered better than the Burris? Just noting the $200 price difference.

As far as the Scar itself, it is really light and soft shooting. 100 rounds so far and I love it! I sold my Noveske 18" AR10 to buy the Scar and while it probably is not capable of shooting as accurately as the Noveske, neither am I...and it's about half the weight...

Thanks again!

Welcome - Hint Burris SUCKS especially their customer service department.
If you want a good scope buy the used Super Sniper 3-9 or a new one - I have two of them and they are worth about three times what they cost.
