Thinking seriously about buying one of these scopes. always wonted a PM and honestly this is the only one i could ever begin to afford. gonna stick it on a savage tac 243. i have several questions first so i hope anyone that owns or at least have reviewed one of these scopes could chime in andhelp a feller out. im gonna use this scope for long range varmint and Maby some deer hunting. how does it stand up to clarity and light transmission as compared to the Zenith or Klassic.  Do these units use the same glass? im sure its prob built like a tank so i have no questions regarding the durability. my last question is rather off the wall, but i know some of the older ones didn't have the words Schmidt Bender written across the rear ocular side of the scope.  All the pictures of the scope i find only show the top view. Does this scope have the WORDS written across the side like the more expensive variable models?? thanks any input or reviews are appreciated.

have you thought about the SS 10XHD?  You'd be a well under what you originally wanted to spend and I don't think you'd be underglassed, you could use your savings to buy ammo or another gun

Other than the panache factor, I don't see that you would get any more from the S&B than you would from the SS. Both would give uber-precise turret moves, and both would have the glass to do whatever you need of a rifle, within the distance limits of a 10X scope.
