Im about to purchase a scope for my 6.5 Grendel. I'm going to use it for hunting and paper punching.  I have been having a hard time deciding on what to get.  I still have not ruled out the Meopta 4-16x44.  But have been really looking at the SB 3-12x50 Classic or Zenith, Diavari 2.5-10x42(50) and the Kahles CL(KX) 3-10x50 or 4-12x??.....Now I have done a lot of reading and have been doing a ALOT of thinking about this but still cant decide if I should get one of the three or just save some money and get the Meopta.

So has anyone had experiance with any of them above?  What would you choose and why?

Now I can get leupy,Nikon,Conquest and Bushnell at dealer cost and have just thought about going with one of them and still might.  To many options

I own both S&Bs and the Zeiss Diavari and can't fault the choice of going top shelf....

Unless your going with a mil-dot or a drop reticle of some type with either the Zeiss, S&B or Kahles; my suggestion would be to save your money and go the Meopta route.

Bigant -

I have looked through every scope that you mention (although, not necessairly the exact power range and objective specification). Optically, you cannot make a bad decision.  I ended up getting a Kahles CL 3-9x42.  I think your decision should really come down to the following:

1 - How sensitive are you to weight?  The S&B are the easily the heaviest of the bunch, by 6+ ounces.  As a result, they are built like a tank.

2 - Do you want a first or second focal plane recticle?  S&B and Zeiss have the first, the Kahles CL & KX have the second.

3 - Do you want a 30mm or 1-inch tube?  S&B and Zeiss are both 30mm, the Kahles CL & KX are 1-inch.

With you thinking about a 4-12x, it appears you may do some long range shooting.  If that is the case, you should consider the Kahles CL w/ Multi-zero.  I ended up getting it w/o this feature, as I don't shoot much beyond 300 yards, but I do think it's pretty awesome.

Good luck and enjoy the process.

With that list, I'd look at US Optics too.  That is, if you want strong as hell, heavy as hell, and great glass.

Bigant all I can tell you is that all 4 scopes are really good scopes.

I own a 2.5-10x50 Zeiss Diavari on 1 of my 30.06s. Its VERY bright in low light with great resolution, very compact & light weight. I sit in stands with this rifle & scope but I could easily use it on stalks & the scope wouldn't become cumbersome. Its a great all around scope for hunting woods, open fields & stalking.

I also have a Kahles 3-12X56 on my .270 that I love when I hunt really large bean fields. This past Saturday night I was scoping a few does at 226 yards about 30 minutes after sunset. I could have easily taken 1 if I had tags. Its also a very bright scope & amazingly light for a 56mm lense & 30mm tube.

If you can afford to spend that kind of money I wouldn't even consider a Leupold, Bushnell, Nikon or Conquest. I'd go with the 1 of the orginal 4 you inquired about. With a scope you really do get what you pay for.
