This is a question regarding Savage receivers.

Are the latest ones round or flat???

Are the latest Stevens 200 round or flat???
When did they change???
Why the change??? etc etc

I ask this as i'll be getting a Savage soon (don't know which one yet because of availability here in Australia) and wish to mount a EGW rail on it.

I just purchased a Savage Mod. 10 Precision Carbine.  It has an Accu-trigger and an Accu-stock.  The receiver is round.  It is my understanding that the Accu-trigger models have round receivers.  This particular rifle is listed in the Law Enforcement group.  The trigger is a target-type trigger.  I also have a police package I purchased several years ago--it too has a round receiver w/Accu-trigger.  I do not know about the Stevens.

The newest Stevens I have seen is not the rounded rear as is with the Savage. This mat change however, or may indeed have changed already. I will say though that the Stevens did have the accu-trigger and was a flat rear style receiver.

Easy way to tell, non accu-trigger = flat receiver
  Accu-trigger = Round receiver.
They changed with the introduction of the accu trigger system.
Stevens as far as I know do not have the accu trigger that is the reason for the price difference (may be changing soon). Not 100% sure but I think they are flat receivers.

Cyborg I think the Stevens you saw may have been converted to the accu trigger.

The Stevens 200s don't have the accu-trigger.

It may have been converted. It was a Stevens with the Accu Trigger though. It was also a new gun. The price was 385.00 dollars.... I would have bought it, except I avoid the flat type receivers.

If it said Stevens on it then its an up-specced Stevens 200...if not, it could be a Savage 111/11 FNS going for cheap...

Then some where the trigger was definately changed.
I just bought an action with the accutrigger and it was $140 more than the stevens without.and as far as I can find out the Stevens is the old Savage without the accutrigger with a flat reciever no round ones.
You should have bought it, it may be a collectable someday.

The Stevens 200 has either been discontinued or soon to be...it's going to be replaced by the Savage Edge.

I just  bought two Stevens 200s. One in 7mm08 and one in 270. $199 each. Both have round receivers just like a recent years of Savage 10 and 110 have.

I checked on a Savage site, all Stevens receivers are round, No Stevens have accutriggers, and at this time there are no plans to discontinue the Stevevs line and replace with the new Edge from Savage.
