Thinking of getting a savage m11fxp3 ,my plan was to get the rifle, toss the scope, rings, and base and rebuild with T.S.P or badger, and get the SS 3-9 .Please feel free to let me know if this sounds  o.k. I did notice that T.S.P only has a 0 base, but there rings ride high so I might be o.k. there?

The only thing I can say, to that is you may want to get the model with an accu-trigger. It is worth the extra money IMO. If budget is why you are going with a non acuu-trigger model, try walmart.com, you order it and they deliver it to a local store for free! And they normally beat the hell out of gun store prices.

Oooppss your right! Sorry just clicked on the wrong one on Savage's web page! I the same basic rifle chambered in .300 wsm and enjoy it lots. Mine is topped with an EGW rail(0 moa), and a 10x S.S. in Burris XTR rings(lows). Mine sits almost to high, I am thinking of buying or making a cheek piece to get a better cheek weld.

I bought one for my son last Christmas.  Shoots good, the scope that comes in the package isn't worth using as a hammer but the rifle is OK.

I had the same issue with my package 270Win.  It came with a Simmons Blazer 3-9X40 that wouldn't hold zero against the kick of the long action.  Got the rifle from Wally World (Walmart) for $377.  I put a 4200 Elite 2.5-10X40 on it and have been driving tacks ever since.

On the east coast most Walmarts in the cities don't carry guns anymore.  None of the stores in teh Baltimore, MD area sell guns but if you drive out ot Fredrick, MD about 45 minutes outside Baltimore, they still sell rifles.  You will get the best price from in store stock. If you order it will cost more.  If I had ordered my 270Win it would have cost over $500.00.
