    Posted: November/24/2009 at 22:54
So....my wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas, and I felt like the kid on 'Christmas Story' as I blurted out "The new Savage Model 10 with the muzzle brake in .308 that has the new accu-stock along with accu-trigger, fluted barrel and detachable box magazine!!!!"

The members of Opticstalk.com have influenced me to purchase some outstanding scopes in the past, and I am looking for input on this one (if Mrs Clause delivers!)

On a serious note, this rifle will primarily be a target shooting gun that I would like to also use for varmint hunting.  I am looking for a scope that would allow me to shoot effectively at long range with this caliber.

All input is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a very nice rifle which of course deservs a very nice scope I will list a couple that I would really like to put on that rifle if it were mine.
Any of these would be really nice scopes but the bottom 3 are true tactical scopes of the highest quality available.

I laughed out loud when I read "you'll shoot your eye out kid", which prompted my wife to look over to see what I was doing on my laptop.  (She was watching Miracle on 34th Street for the 15th time).  She was way impressed that I included her in my OT topic.

Urimaginaryfrnd, I will check out all of these scope recs.  I hadn't considered any of these.

Oh, sorry about the links. I guess if I post a link to a competitor to SWFA then it disables the link. Learning as I go here. Naughty

I sure like the looks of that Sightron III. Thinking about one of those for an AR10 in .308. Looks like a nice scope, but would like to look thru one sometime. Can you do that at SWFA if you make the drive to Dallas?

May just bite the bullet and buy one. There have been some good reviews on here about them. I've never met many scopes in that price range that I didn't like....Smile Can always send it back like you say...
