i've seen quite a few messages on various forums indicating confusion over what base or bases are needed for the Savage 10FP-LE2 w/ accutrigger. Do (for instance) the Leupold mounts listed as being for Savge 10-16 Short Action Round Receiver work? I've seen some people say that the accutrigger rear mount is different.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hello, I just got my Savage 10FP with AccuTrigger and I got the Leupold 2 piece mount part # 55742  STD Savage 10/110 round reciever  Matte and STD medium rings # 49901 Matte.   Hope this helps!!    I still have to figure out what scope to get!!! I was thinking about the Leupold VXII 6-18x40 AO   #57100

what scope are you going to use?

Thanks for the reply! I found the Badger Ordnance Picatinny rail mount for Savage 10-16 RH short action round receiver at (competitor) and got it yesterday. A little pricy, but seems solid I'll be using the 6-20x56 3rd Gen Springfield Armory MilDot I got a while back for my M1A - I won't have the rifle 'till Monday 4/19 (d@mn Kalifornistan waiting periods.)

I suspect I may replace the Springfield rings with QDs at some point, since the mount will be fixed on the rifle. On the M1A the mount was QD and scope was fixed to it.

I also found a nearly-NIB 3x24 Trijicon Compact ACOG right here at SWFA I'm going to try out on the M1A. Not sure about the reticle - the full size ACOGs have either .223 or .308 reticles, but the literature on the Compacts doesn't indicate any specific setting. I'll have it at the range on Friday and maybe Sunday so I'll know then.

I do love the M1A but the combo of big scope, milspec bipod and walnut stock made it one heavy piece to lug around for 3-Gun or any kind of tactical stuff. We'll see if the ACOG helps there, and the SA scope should be nice at distance on the Savage.

No, haven't been up that way in years; I did spend a summer in Vallejo (Mare Island ) more years ago than I want to think about.

I'm in SoCal (Orange County) and have to drive 50 miles to the range for anything over 50 yards or so (no outdoor ranges at ALL left in OC) but it's not too bad. West End Gun Club near Fontana has up to 600 yards and i have 24/7/365 access as a member.

If you do get down this way, drop a line. I usually shoot at least one match a weekend (mostly pistol - IDPA, Action Pistol, USPSA) but will probably be doing more rifle this year. West End has High Power and 600 yard matches every month.
