I have a new Savage 10-FCP-K .308 and I just received my EGW 20 MOA HD base.
When installing the base on this rifle I noticed that the front of the base didn't contact the receiver but about a 64th of an inch when I checked the fit by installing the rear two screws and snugging them down.
Now when I installed the front two screws and snugged them down the rear end of the base contacted the receiver correctly.
So now I take my JB weld and bed the front portion of the base to give nice even contact between the front and rear of the base with the receiver.
The next issue I had was when I go to install all four screws into the base and receiver I find that the holes are not lined up perfectly causing binding of one or two of the mounting screws.
What I did to fix this is to run a #27 bit through the mounting holes on the base to open them up slightly.
This did the trick as now I can get all four screws installed without binding and set to the proper torque.
But question, is this a common issue with Savage receivers as I believe the issue is with a slightly warped receiver?
Did I do the right thing by opening up the mounting holes on the base?

That is quite common with both savage and remington receivers.
