Well, more information has come out......
Additional details on the situation:
$ 500,000 - Sarah Palin's costs surrounding dismissed charges
$2,000,000 - The Lt. Governor says Alaska paid additional staff payroll just from document requests on 15 dismissed items
$ unknown cost - Costs for judge, stenographer, courtroom staff, office supplies, office equipment, various attorneys, research assistants, etc.
$ unknown cost - Can you imagine the burden on a state government where they normally are not used to a 20,000 person legal army invasion to attack their governor?
Looks like it is a pretty big number. Assuming the foreign (foreign to Alaska anyhow) attacks would probably have chosen to prosecute their strongest case first.... meaning the 15 charges already exonerated..... I can't imagine continued attacks and their cost would do Alaska any good.
That has me considering the wisdom of her decision to avoid a continued burden on Alaska from more lawsuits.
She may have made the right call, even if it is unfortunate and will do her damage in the long run. She did what was best for Alaska... it seems to me. Kudos to Sarah for doing the right thing even though it wasn't the most expedient thing for her career. We need more politicians like that.
