Good Morning from FOB Sykes!

Can someone give me a more detailed explanation of the statement, "knobs will not be audibly consistent with each other" in the description of some of the Super Sniper scopes on the Samplelist?

THANKS!!, Semper Fi,

Chris would be the best, but I'll take a stab (I've been wrong before, so don't bank on this.)

Sometimes a knob or both with not have an audible click when dope is clicked in.  I presume he is saying one turret may click and the other not.  Or maybe he means the pitch of the sound of the click doesn't match from turret to turret.  Or maybe it's just bad skuttle to confuse you.  Or maybe he was drinking when he wrote it and thought it sounded profound.  Or maybe it simply means that the knobs will not be audibly consistent with each other.  Or maybe they click loudly at one point in the revolution and softly in another.

Whatever it means, it means you should get a good deal on the scope.  Or drop the $$ for a new and count on the knobs being audibly consistent with each other.

you may not be able to hear the click when you turn one knob but the other knob you can hear just fine. Scope still works just fine.

Thanks, Guys!!

I'm an H3 waiver anyway after 25 years in the sniping business. I may grab that 10x42 side focus for a REM700 PSS 300WM. I am having a fit with my new Barrett XM107. About every 5th round goes about 6 MOA right of zero. I've fired about 250 rounds through it in the last 2 days troubleshooting and have the sinus headache from hell! I'll be back on the range at 0600 this morning.

Thanks Again and SF!!

Chris

About every 5th?  From a full mag?  Is it always the same round from in the mag or does it jump around?  Does the 6th go back to zero or does the new zero become the 6MOA move?

So, to understand: you've seen this same thing happen roughly 50 times: 5th round goes right 6 MOA?  If it's the last round in the mag, try firing 2 or 3 from the mag and see if the last of the 3 does it again?  Maybe the last round from the mag isn't gioing into battery exactly the same as the others.  I've seen this a few times in handguns (first round after you wrack the slide shifts but all others group well.)  I've never seen it in a semi auto rifle and never seen it on the last round.  Then again, my experience with semi auto precision rifles ain't been too much.

I'm guessing you have thought of this too, but never hurts to validate someone's problem-solving skills.

I'm guessing this is a bit of a confidence-buster. I'd say stow the .50 till the problem is solved.

Thanks for the input! The problem seems to be random, sometimes the 3rd round, sometimes the 6th, etc. I have tried single-feeding it-same result. The weapon just came from Barrett and was on of the 82A1s that was rebuilt to M107 specs. I suspect it was test-fired only when I got it. It is the only Barrett available here except for an original 82A1 that EOD has that won't take a PVS22 due to no rail beng installed and I am going out to kill technicals next week so the 50BMG/Mk211Mod0 combo will be required. I suspect that the barrel assembly/receiver interface may have a wear-in period-the barrel moves to the rear about 3 inches under recoil. Send me some more input if you have any-will let you know how I do on the range today.

Have you looked at the scope rings?  Have you tried letting it load a new cartridge then examine the cartridge for damage caused by loading? I dont know but I will ask George Gardner in KC tomorrow when I pick up my rifle.

Hey Guys!

At the last minute, I located a brand new Leupold Mark 4 LR/T 4.5x14x50 at the ODA arms room. I mounted it and the weapon shot great! I was really getting frustrated so it was good to get the problem solved and the mission was very successful. I used the Leupold/PVS22 on the Barrett and a PVS10 DNS on the M24. I will post pics when I get them downloaded. Thanks for all the input!!
