Well first off all this is my first post here i have searched for my answer before posting but couldnt quite find it.  So i got a new hunting rifle a Tikka T3 in .300wsm synthetic/stainless and am looking for a new scope and a good set of rings for it.  It needs to be very durable as it will be put through the ringer hunting with me.  I would like an illuminated reticle.  Comparibly to a product i own i would like for it to be atleast to Leupolds VX-II quality (know most of you feel like there over priced).  The scope needs to be somwhere in the $500's or less range slightly over may be ok.  Rings $100's or less.  This would keep my whole setup somewhere1100 or less as this will be strictly used for hunting only.

Thanks to everyone to answering the same old ?

is the conquest offered in an illuminated reticle?  There seem to be a lot of fans for the 4200 series and its one of my choices but as a consumer i am trying to do the research to get the most bang for my buck so i figured i would ask the experts.  It seems as if you can get the discontinued sightrons at a good price and i am kind of intrigued by the Truglo line anyone have experience with these?

Hey 300, I have the same gun but laminated. I have Warne stainless rings and a Sightron Big Sky 4X16-42 in silver. Shot a very nice buck with it today and love the Sightron. There is only .090 between the medium and high mounts. I tried the medium warnes and the bell will not fit on the Tikka, that's using the dovetail receiver mount. The bell is about .060 off the barrel with the high mounts. The Sightron has the most usable and forgiving eye relief I have ever seen, top that off with some awsome glass and you have a real combination. Love mine. More Sightrons in the very near future for me.

Good luck on your choice.

Rob

have yet to pick mine up actually shot win mdl70 in .243 for years but it was stolen sad day for me but have been wanting more knockdown for years too.  I also wished the mdl 70's trigger was a little better i hope the tikka is.  Thanks for the info

The trigger on the Tikka is very good out of the box and can be tweaked to be even better yet.
