Can some gun nut here with knowledge please tell me why Sako has discontinued the Sako 85 Stainless Synthetic? I have been recently told by 2 large gun dealers that Sako discontinued this line? Why!?!?!?!?!

Secondly Weatherby informed me that they discontinued the Vanguard Sub MOA stainless synthetic line.

Again does anyone know why both of these rifles have been put out of service & where I could possibly find a Sako 85 SS, NOT the Finnlite but the regular 85 SS.

Thanks for your input.

That's news to me.  Sako's website still shows 5 models of stainless rifles, and I saw these rifles at the SHOT show in Jan.  Only 2 of their stainless rifles have synthetic stocks; the other 3 have either laminated or walnut stocks.

Even if it's true that both companies discontinued their standard stainless / synthetic rifles, you would still be able to buy them for awhile at gun auction sites like gunbroker.com and gunsamerica.com.

I also heard about the Sako's. That info came from a guy (at Euro Optic) who had some walnut / stainless 85's in .338 Fed. (with great wood) that I inquired about.  Smile

When you say you can't find them anywhere, are you referring only to the stainless / synthetic stock version, or ANY SS 85 rifle?  I've seen plenty of the stainless & gray laminated wood versions around.
