REcently purchased a scope mount from SWFA for my Saiga 7.62x39. The mount attaches to the rear sight block.
Anyone want to recommend a low power, long eyerefielf scope. Would prefer a mil-dot reticle.
Thanks everyoneBig Grin

The  2 moa dot Aimpoint would be high on my list if you could afford one.  The Burris is a fine choice in a scout scope and Leupold also mades a very nice scout scope.  Mil dot reticles can  be found on many scopes but not really the long eye relief type.  Sometimes we try to make one gun do too many types of jobs and it would be better to have a second rifle in a bolt gun and put a Super Sniper 10x with mil dot on that.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
So far, I'm leaning towards the Leatherwood with the larger objective lens. Got one free (not being used)Aimpoint left in the closet, wanted to save it for something else.(don't know what yet!)
As to long-distance work, got a Ruger 77C MkII-.300WSM with a Nikon Prostaff. While it's no HPR type rifle, needless to say it out ranges  my FAL(my mid-range weapon) and of course the Saiga.
Thanks all!

So, has anyone tried the Leatherwood 2-7 Scout scope?  If so, give me the low down, thanks!

Your hold back will be accuracy of the 7.62 x 39 which by it's nature is not the most accurate of rounds. I have a Saiga 7.62 and a Saiga .223 and they feed and shoot flawlessly, and hit pretty much what I'm shooting at.

I have one of these on my 7.62

You can get a lot of accessories for the Saiga line through these guys.

You can spend as much as you want on optics, but it doesn't take long to get to the point where you just have a really clear picture of what you're not hitting. My Saiga shoots just as good as my mini-30, in fact it actually groups a little better. It's just not that accurate when compared to my other guns. It is a blast to shoot and I let my daughter take a ram with it this year and it was a 1 shot kill.

It was about a 60 yard shot off shooting sticks with me helping hold her steady. She's got really poor vision in her right eye, but can keep both open and use the red dot with 2x magnification without issue.

Get what makes you happiest. All of the options others have suggested are good ones. Thunbs Up

She's a maniac hunter. "Wolf in sheep's clothing evenWink"  That was her 2nd Ram. She got her 1st one at 9 years old with a .223 single shot.
