Terrible accident on the Interstate yesterday in our little town.  A Prius crossed the median and hit a full size Blazer head on doing at least 70 mph.  5 Dead, 4 in serious condition.  Prius was carrying 4 teens 18-19 years old.  3 of those 4 died.  Here is the sadder part.  Family of 5 in the blazer 3 kids under ten were all wearing seat belts and survived.  Their Grandparents ages mid 50's - 60's were not wearing seatbelts and died...............  The pictures of the cars were unbelievable.  You wouldn't think a Prius could that much damage to a Blazer.

Prayers sent to the family.  those kids have a long hard road ahead with both parents gone.   I hope all you guys buckle up!  I wouldn't be an only child now had my brother been wearing a seatbelt.

I hope the teen driving the Prius wasn't drunk or under any influence....regardless that is terrible for all parties involved. So many young lives lost in the blink of an eye.

It was in the middle of the day on Sunday.  I'm guessing they were headed back to Michigan State after being in Ann Arbor for big game.

I wonder if the driver of the prius would be cited for speeding and thus be liable if the legal guardian of the children from the blazer sued for damages (im guessing the driver died in the prius). Again, all those families affected.

If there is one thing having a truck has done for me, is it's gotten me to slow down a little. I definitely notice it. I've always been good about wearing my seatbelt and it's probably saved my life as i've been in 2 nasty wrecks.

Texting while driving is more of a problem with teens around SE MI. It's gotten ridiculous. It is even against the law now and they still do it.

That is sad. A friend of mine who has been on the MT Highway Patrol for 20 years was the responding officer to an accident scene where 5 teens died in a truck crash this past March. He was pretty much ready to retire and do something different. That decided him. I feel the worst in this case for those kids who lost their parents.

SAD,  I've been to a lot of accident scenes and all I can say is that most could have been avoided if people would slow down not text and drive not drink and drive and allow just a little more following distance.
