I
never saw myself as a pistol shooter before but after shooting another 3 Gun Match with this instead of my old XD I am hooked. I couldn't tell you why, but I cut my times in half. (They were horrible at best my first match)
I was never comfortable with my XD and swapped at the last minute to the XDm before the match. Never trained with the XDm. If you are in the market for a nice handgun, high capacity and extreme accuracy, check this one out for sure.

Wasn't your last pistol you used 45? The lower recoiling 9MM could be the cause.

I remember you referring me to try one a while back. I just now got my hands on one and I shot so much better.

I went from a 5 inch .40 XD to a 4.5 inch XDM 9.
G, it did feel like shooting a pellet gun after the XD 40 but I tried a few Glock 9's and weren't very comfortable either.

I don't have a 9mm but I have a 40 and a 45. I will take the 45 for feel any day over the 40 right now. I have an XDs in 45 for conceal carry and love it. I would like to get a full size xdm in 45 for some 3 gun stuff. Otherwise I use my 1911s.

the problem i have with the xdm 45, (which they have since remedied) was the fact that the grip was too thick for my comfort, even with the thinnest back strap on the gun. obviously the new single stack s series would be thinner. i have the thinnest strap on my .40 as it is.

40s are snappy vs the 9 and .45. Right now I have two XD 9s and a XDm 40. I much prefer shooting the 9s vs the 40. I had a XD 45 and really liked it as well.

If you loved the 4.5 XDM 9mm try the XDM 5.25 in 9mm. I tried both and went home with the 5.25. Also you might want to try the 5.25 in 40 and 45. I am leaning towards a 45 myself. That way you will make major power factor. BTW I have an XD 5 inch Tactical in 40 and of all my 40s it is the most stout recoiling of all of them.

I have a 5.25 in .45 ACP. It is the most controllable .45 I've shot. And very accurate to boot.

Has anyone tried dot sight on their XDM? I seen one with a Doctor optic at the FT. Sill Post Exchange about 2 weeks ago and I've had it on my mind since I seen it!! As I get older my eyes are failing me I notice SWFA sells the mount for the Burris Fast Fire II. I'm probably gonna look very hard a the Trijicon RMR dot. Anyone have any experience with mounting these types of sights on semi auto pistol slides. I don't shoot 3 gun. I just use my hand gun when feral hogs come in under my deer stand while bow hunting.

Suggest you go to a Crimson Trace Laser rather than put an optic on your XDM. Or go to an Encore single shot handgun and scope that.

I'm more than a little leery of slide mounted optics but for me personally a handgun is an open sights only weapon anyways.
