I did a search on all the older posts but did not find much, looking for a good scope for my mag. Hunting out to 100+. Fixed power power or possibly a smaller variable. Have been looking at the Leupold 2-7x28 VX-2 Ultralight Riflescope
Any one have one of these and any inputs? How about other that may fall along this scope? Cost looking to spend, $2-400. Thanks

My Ruger 77 .22 mag presently has a Leupold 3.5-10x50 EFR on it. It is now discontinued. This is a night time rig and the scope has done a good job with artificial lighting.
Your choice is a good one. The standard Leupold plex is not the best for low light. But, for other shooting conditions it will work fine.

I would like to have good light at early am and late pm, this would be a better choice with the 33 objective, any thoughts?

The 2-7x33 will give at least a 5m exit pupil when set just above 6x. The will have 5mm of exit pupil at just under 6x, so it is pretty close. They both have the newer lenses and should perform well.
Is yours the sporter weight? If so, the Ultralight might look better on the gun.

22 mag. can be scoped with the 100 yd. parallax setting on all big game scopes...no .22lr limitations!
