They are not made at the Rock Island Armory in Illinois they are made overseas. Taurus is not that much more but has many better features and is a quality build.

Rock island isn't known for quality handguns.  I think I'd spend money elsewhere.

I'm not  going to be able to spend any money on a firearm anytime soon until I find the wife a new rifle well not new but the one she wants. Winchester 100 in the 308 kind of spendy little buggers lol

Play with a rock island a while back. Seemed like sloppy fit and didn't shoot great.

RIA is made in the Phillipines, I believe Armscor makes 'em. For a little more, you can get a Springfield Armory G.I. model, or, as the guys said, a nicely finished and featured Taurus.
Taurus makes some good stuff, I just can't get past that ugly logo.
 Wish I'd known you needed a 100 sooner, I recently sold a post 64 model 100 in 308 for $350.

Been seeing some at the gun shows in the $400-$475 range lately. I thought those are pretty good prices considering they seem to be going for a lot more on-line.
