I am wanting to use the RL 17 powder to reload for a 7mm WSM with a 150 grain bullet, in both the barnes TTSX and nosler E-tip and 160 grain nosler accubond. I would also like to reload for a 300 WSM using 180 grain nosler accubond. I am having trouble finding any data on the RL 17 powder for those bullets, can anyone supply me with some loading data for any of those bullets and RL 17 Powder i have even asked nosler and they were not able to help me and alliant was not able to give me any info either, so anything would help. Thanks

Alliant load data usually only shows loads with Speer bullets. The link above should give you an idea where to start; reduced powder charge weight, of course. Seating depth will also play a significant role. Some calibers have shown performance gains over other powder choices when using Reloader 17 while others case sizes don't seem to work as well. You'll just have to work up carefully for each rifle until you start seeing pressure signs as there isn't a whole lot of data out there yet with RL 17. I'm still trying to sort out a max accuracy/power load for a different caliber rifle using much heavier bullets than one would think appropriate for the powder's burn rate. Some people have been getting extraordinary results with heavy bullets in ..308 Win, for instance. |
