Yes, I saw that the other day. I saw him several times with Cabo Wabo Sammy in the seventies. I even saw him with Edgar Winter. He was awesome on his Les Paul!

Yeah I was shocked when I heard about it a few weeks ago.

Their putting together a tribute concert in SF on 4/27/12. The original band is being brought back together, The red rocker Sammy Hagar, Bill Church on Bass, the amazing Danny Cararmassi on drums and Joe Satriani (stepping in for Ronnie) along with Neal Schon, and others.

The Montrose album along with Journey's first were the first two albums I owned. Ronnie was a local guy, I saw him at many venues starting out and through out his career, he never forgot his roots. Playing with Van Morrison, local Boz Scaggs, Edger Winter, discovering another local boy Sammy Hagar then forming the band Montrose, going solo, forming the band Gamma, etc. My Montrose albums are shelved but I always carry the CD version of the first Montrose album in my truck. Rock and Roll lost a true guitar hero.
