I have a Rino 655t so does 3 other people in my hunting group. We recently went on a 2 week hunt in which we chartered a jet boat to drop us at a remote location.  There were 5 people in our group and we set up a base camp next to the river. From there we split into two groups 3 and 2 and spike camped ranging from 10 to 20 km from our base camp. The 655t worked great for communications we had purchased an extra battery pack with the GPS/Radio that enabled us to use AA batteries instead of the lithium ion battery pack that came with the units. The issue is with the lithium ion pack we could use the 5 watt feature of the unit but with the AA pack installed we were limited to 2 watts for the radio. 2 watts worked great if we were close but for some of the extended distances we were apart they didn't. But with no way of charging the lithium ion pack we had no choice.

To make a long story short I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the Rino 655t and know of a solution to our problem. I was think of getting a goal zero 7 watt solar setup but am unable to find anyone that has used it to charge the lithium ion battery that comes with the Rino 655t.

Regards,

I don't have Rino radios.  But we have radios with lithium batteries.  We charge them from 12volt automotive batteries all the time.  So it should work just fine.

I have 4, 20 watt solar panels for my fifthwheel and each of them came with a cigarette lighter/power point adapter that plugs right into the panels.  It is the male end, but I am sure you could wire on a female end so you could charge right from it.   I would consider adding a small 12 volt lawn mower type battery.  That way it could be charging all the time and you could then charge your battery packs from it.

I have sunforce panels  http://www.amazon.com/Sunforce-50123-Solar-Battery-Charging/dp/B0091I1Q5U/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1387564349&sr=8-8&keywords=sunforce+solar+battery+charger
