My son just got a Browning A-Bolt 7mm wsm. I think he wants to get an Elite 4200 4x16 scope. What are the best rings and the proper height needed for this setup? Thank you for any and all info.

leupold standard rings/bases, and medium rings should work fine.

I am a big fan of Burris Signature Zee rings.  Those inserts make sure that there is zero stress on the scope. Also, you can adjust windage and elevation with different inserts and save scope adjustment.

If your scope is a 50mm it will require high rings.  Bushnell makes a 4-16x40 and a 4-16x50.

cuda440, ( should have got the 426 Hemi ), the Burris rings with the inserts, I believe, are also available in the Quick Release version and claim to return to absolute zero. I like QR type set-ups are  a nice feature if you travel with your guns so that you can remove the scope and place them in a carry on bag for added proection. Just my two cents worth. Great gun and caliber choice by the way. I love the the 7mm WSM and wish I had ordered my Kimber 8400 in the 7 instead of the 300 WSM. Good luck and with your new set-up. Also, good choice on the Elite 4200, and if I may, I would go with the 40mm objective. You will probably run into less mounting issues. If you think that my suggestion might help you with regards to the QR mounts, you could see if Leupold offers the QR base/ring mounting application for your A- Bolt. That 7WSM with 140 Nosler BT bullets will drop whitetails like a bolt from the BLUE !!!
