I have a Stiller action 338 LM with MTU contour barrel with my gunsmith.

I prefer let him working, so what rings height will I need for NF 12-42X56 scope.

The rings  I choose are the Badger Max 50.  Are standard (.823") hight enough?

Thanks

Actually, just try this… it should give you what you need…

1. Measure the height of the front of the base/rail from the barrel

2. Measure the height of the rings from the top of the rail to centerline

3. Measure or otherwise ascertain the true outside diameter of the bell of the scope (not the size of the objective lens… some scope manufacturers give you outside diameter, some only give objective lens diameter.)

(rail height + ring height) – (bell diameter/2)

If the value is positive, then the bell will clear the barrel. Most want the bell to be about 1/4" or less over the barrel. One must also take scope caps into account for final determination.

The rifle is in Texas and I live outside USA.  So, I have no way to measure the front of base rail to the barrel, who is a MTU profile wih 1.350" for 3"  tapering to .930 at 28".

Thanks anyway, I will contact the gunsmith (who I believe is very busy....)
