Newbie Here.Yippee Just looking around and want to ask some Questions on mounts and rings.  I have a Browning 243 Wssm A bolt Short Action and was looking for a good set of rings. I have seen some rifles with pictany(sp) rail and rings atached to this, is this better than just your typical mount and rings?.The scope im thinking about going with is the Nikon 4.5-14x40 buckmaster with a 1" tube. Any help on rings mounts Whacko...........

Welcome to O.T., Isittingbull !

Picatinny systems have a lot going for them.  They are rugged, solid and versatile, in that many different manufacturers make rings that will work on a Picatinny rail. The ones with multiple cross-slots in the base are easy to move forward or backward to adjust eye-relief without having to loosen the rings and slide the scope tube. They are the only style I know of that are available with forward cant to allow extremely long-range shooting without running out of internal elevation adjustment within the scope. Two or more rifles with the same type of rail can swap scopes back and forth quickly and easily. I would recommend them without reservation for the rig you are putting together.  They are usually more expensive than other styles, though.

Welcome to the OT!!

Once again, RONK comes through with solid advise.

Brother, try out Near Manufacturing for a rail.
