I found  the scope above and now have to mount it.  It will be going on a Savage 11 with a B-square one piece Weaver base.  I am thinking Warne QD Low rings, will the occular housing clear the bolt?  This is the first 30mm scope I've worked with.  This scope will be moved on and off the rifle regularly (the action is also used for load development with a variety of different barrels and calibers between hunting seasons) and replaced by a KT-15.

Wow - you sound like a guy that needs an Encore. Just put medium rings on and allow yourself a tad of clearance not enough to really alter things in a major way and if the scope goes on and off the rifle might as well use warne quick release rings and base. I think the B square base is alloy where the Warne is steel.

The B-square base has done a yoeman job on a couple of rifles with standard 1" Weaver style QD rings I have them on a couple different rifles and a Weaver 1 piece base on my Rem 600 for at least 20 yrs.  These rifles are all wildcats based on the .378 case head so none are hard on rings or mounts.

I think Warne rings will work well for you.  Elite 4200 has a comparatively slim ocular bell.

If you want to use a BSquare base its your rifle. Just because I suggest steel over alluminum doesnt mean you have to use the stronger metal.  It's a wear issue and when you take it on and off on and off on and off you get wear, aluminum as we know will show wear more rapidly than steel.Juggle

That's a thought,  I'll keep an eye on it.  The hard finish on the Weaver base shows no wear after all these years but the B-sqr might bear watching.

Thanks

I got the scope mopunted last night in the Warne Low ring set and suprise there was enough room to lower the scope about 3/16" yet.  It is a little high for me also,  I'll have to build up the stock a little for load work this summer but it should be just about right with a little fuller beard (winter lenght) and a face mask.
