This is my very first ring & base purchase. I have a Savage FV .223 heavy barrel. I'm on a very LIMITED BUDGET. What would you recommend for the most bang for the buck. I have a 30 mm scope, and I will only be using them for a bench gun.

Thanks for any advice you can give me!!!

They only make the quad locks in 1 in.(need 30mm) Does anyone have reviews on the Weaver Grand Slam rings?

If weight dont bother you grandslams are good.I bought a set of highs in these and they weighed over a pound so i took them back. They are made out of some very heavy steel. But other than the weight issue they mount up solid.

Weaver base/ Warne rings. Or Leupold PRW rings on a Weaver base. If you can though, spend a little more for steel bases over aluminum ones. Steel and aluminum in contact with each other can lead to galvanic corrosion over long periods of time (several years). I've seen a few nicely engraved rifles somewhat disfigured because of this phenomenon. I believe Weaver and Leupold both make blued and stainless bases to match your rifle and rings, but many are blue or grey aluminum. Shop carefully to get real steel.
