I've had a rem 700 PSS in 300 win mag built. I have a Leupold mark 4 3.5-10x40 to mount on it The rifle will be used at ranges up to 750m. I'll be putting about 100 rds through it each week. . All I have left to do is get some rings and a base. I've used Leupold standard rings with a 1 piece base on several other rifles and they have worked well. My concern is that with the added recoil of hot 300 win mags the leupold standard base and rings will not hold up. Would I be better off just using a badger base & 30mm rings. If I do use the badger rings, since they are a matched set would they still need to be lapped? I know I've answered my own question about the durability of leupold vs badger but some other opinions from people who have used both would be very helpful.
