Hi guys,

Mounting a Triji 3 X 9 X 40 on a Thompson Icon with the integral bases.

A. Think I can get away with a low ring?

B. Ring suggestions? ( considering the Leupold PRW ?)

Thanks

Ken

depending on what you want to spend I'd look at these options being you have a intregal weaver rail built in/on your Icon.  I am a huge TPS ring fan but they are a bit "beefy" for a hunting gun.
TPS Tactical Scope 1 TPS Tactical Scope 1" Rings
Stock # - TPS30601
  • Medium (.985")
  • Alloy Steel
  • Weaver-Style
$69.95
Burris Zee's are classics and nice, they are also availible in gloss finish if you like that
Burris Zee 1 Burris Zee 1" Rings
Stock # - 420084
  • Matte
  • Medium
$19.95
Then again the PMW's aren't bad and would be fine as well.  I'm just not much on leupold (not that they aren't fine)
Leupold PRW 1 Leupold PRW 1" Rings
Stock # - LEU54147
  • Gloss
  • Medium
$36.95
Leupold PRW 1 Leupold PRW 1" Rings
Stock # - LEU54149
  • Matte
  • Medium
$36.95
As far as height goes.  It really would depend on each manufacture being they all have different heights for differnt designations.  Call SWFA  1-072-SCOPE-IT and tell them exactly what your mounting and on what gun, they probably have done it before and can give you the hieght to get you as close to the bore as possible.

Graham, wouldn't LOW rings work with the poster's rifle, instead of mediums?

I too love TPS rings, but the others will serve you well too.

I think they will but dont' want him to order them based on me saying so then they have a fit issue.  Would rather he insure they would by calling SWFAWink

Thank you for the insight. I want something clean, without knobs or knurled nuts, since the mounting will be "permanent"
