I have a Remington M40 USMC Limited Edition and am planning to mount a Burris FF II Tactical 3-9X40 to it using a Burris Supreme 1 piece base.  The Burris rings chart call for short rings on the Remington 700 series but the M40 has a heavier profiled barrel.  I would prefer to keep the scope as close to the bore as possible so the short rings sound good from that perspective, but does anyone know if they will work on the M40?  Thanks in advance for your help.

I would call Brownells with measurements in hand and talk to a tech there. They have never failed me.
what does the burris chart call for on a 700 varmint? that has a fat bbl too. were it me i would use a
the burris double dovetail two piece base as it makes single loading easier and use burris signature rings as they self
align and won't mark up your scope. beware of being too low as that rifle has a straight comb.
