Just ordered one of the new 5-20s and will be mounting it on a Rem 700 with an EGW 20MOA base.  My choices right now are between TPS, Seekins, and SWFA.  Of those, will the low rings work fine for the SS with Butler caps?  The base is pretty high and I'm thinking they will, but just want to double check.
Also, how do the SWFA rings compare to the steel rings of TPS and Seekins?  Scopes going on a 6mm, so it's not a shoulder buster or anything, but I would feel comforted knowing my setup would hold up on a 50 cal ya know...

Call SWFA and ask my tendency would be to order medium rings to allow room for a flip up lens cap but you might get away with low and I would certinly go with the TPS or Seekins or Badger or Talley the only alloy rings I tend to buy are Talley.

+1 with Wes.I would also like to add the new Aadland. In the utube video of Frank testing the new SS5-20 he's using a Aadland low ring, but you can see it's real real close to the caps hitting the barrel!

FYI Butler Creek sizes for 5-20x50 are:Objective #44.....Ocular #19

Funny you mentioned the Aadlands.  I started looking at them after watching that video as well.  They look very solid and well made and didn't cost as much as I thought they would.  If they were steel I probably would have ordered them already with no debate.  I've always went with steel rings with the exception of some BKL's for an airgun (http://swfa.com/BKL-4-Long-Drop-Compensated-Dovetail-1-Mount-P47858.aspx) and although they worked just fine, I didn't care for the "feel" of them.  I know they are nowhere close to being in the same league as the Aadlands just saying they are my only experience with aluminum rings.  I've seen the Aadlands in many of the pics throughout the hide and here on very expensive rifles holding very expensive scopes!  Just checked out their site for the first time and definately leaning towards them right now... "The AADMOUNT is not just "approved for use" on 50 Cal rifles, but is highly recommended for such use."
Also a plus knowing they come from (I don't know his exact involvement with them? Designer?) JonA, who is one of the most credible sources in the optics world. And they look bad assBig Grin

I had ordered some TPS rings a while back, but they were back ordered so I cancelled them.  Not sure if they still are.  Seekins was my next choice and I've kind of been torn between the two.  Now I'm torn between 3!  Number 3 however may make my choice even easier:)

Wow. I literally started reading the site as I was typing that first post about considering them and I'm still not done reading it all but almost positive these are the rings I will be ordering...  Can anyone tell me if they are in stock for sure before I place the order?  I know I can call SWFA before I order them, but it's not even 7AM yet and I'm heading to bed (work 3rd) so I'll just ask on here first.  I didn't find out about the TPS being back ordered until I received an email after placing the order.

Nevermind.  Clicked on the "Buy Now" and their site says they are in stock.  Will order them from here of course and I'm assuming (I know that's not always smartWhacko) that they will be in stock here as well. Would edit my other post rather than making a hundred new ones, one after another, but I don't appear to have that option yet?
